The Need To Be Whole

Whatever we do in this life, be it buying a garment, reading a book or searching for our life mate, we human beings seek for one thing. All the movies we watch or the commercials are always structured in this manner also. Those, which neglect to comply with this principle, shall result in failure… These are the words quoted from Mr. Celil Oker, my dear instructor for Story Telling lessons.

Either conscious or unconscious we all want to be “whole”. We want wholeness in our emotions and in our mindset. Moreover, we want our spirit, mind and body to be in a whole state. If we don’t feel the “wholeness” that we look for, we try to complete it. If we can’t find it and continue to see the absence, we feel uneasy. Indeed, we are “whole”, however not aware of it most of the times or we have hurdles to feel it or to live it at the mind level. If we see that what we want in life is not happening, we start thinking that the life itself or what we are living through is faulty, unfair or scarce. We then say, “… it failed again”, and we seek for perfectness. Yet we find neither perfectness nor wholeness. Is there anything like perfect? I feel it belongs to a fairy tale. One of my dear friends shared with me this precious quote: “it is frustrating to strive for perfectness, whereas it is motivating to strive for excellence”, which I believe is a great guide.

There is no such thing as perfectness either in mysticism or in the divinity accepted by the eastern philosophy. Everything in this universe carries the components of the “divine”: the good- the bad; the beautiful-the ugly; the right-the wrong; the less-the more etc. we are passing through all these situations at different phases of our life. So we live the “wholeness” within us exactly at this point when we are able to experience all these. We are all of it and we are “whole” for this unique state. The rest is to accept it, to experience it deeply and to enjoy it. Moreover, if we start understanding the “wholeness”, we have endless opportunities available to us. 🙂

Small Steps vs Big Steps

Which one do you prefer? Or does it really matter? If you have a target to reach is it really important how many steps do you need to take or whether you need to take big steps or small steps to reach your target, what do you think?

We all have a focus point in this life, what ever it might be. Some of us are focused on success, while others on achievement, or setting up good relations or other intentions that are significant for us. Are you aware, how you are walking towards these intentions or to the biggest target of your life? Is there another question hidden in the latter sentence or the answer itself maybe. The important thing to do is to “walk” or “step forward” to our direction and not to stop, stay stuck or give up. Or even if you choose not to make a move in one way, it is important to find another way to walk through to reach your targets in life. No matter how hard you fail, and how deep you suffer, nothing can make you suffer more than staying stuck at where you failed. Think for a second, what do you need to shift in yourself towards a positive move when you find yourself in such a position? Could it be thinking out of the box, or finding your barriers that are preventing you to move forward and eliminating those barriers or maybe just asking yourself the right questions?

It is always worth to feel the excitement of visualizing the gifts we will have in our life when we think of the answers to the questions above or strive for firing ourselves to make the next move. So, we can either stand up and move forward in another direction or continue to walk in the same direction with more solid steps. Always keep in mind that what is significant is to stand up regardless of how many times you fall down or to change your direction when you notice that the current way is not taking you to your destination. There is no place for fear from falling down or changing direction; do you wonder why? Because you cannot make big improvements by just falling once or changing your direction only once. The more you experience, the more you move farther, the more immunity and flexibility you will gain together with a big inner smile 🙂
